Boba Tea Making + the History of Boba Tea with Confetti 🧋

In celebration of AAPI Heritage Month, last week, GumGummers in North America got together virtually for an interactive and educational Boba Tea Making workshop, hosted by Confetti. Led by a Mother-Daughter duo of tea experts, we learned the art of crafting this delicious milk tea beverage from scratch. From preparing the tea base to cooking the tapioca pearls just right, we immersed ourselves in the process of creating the perfect Boba Tea.

The History of Boba Tea

To truly appreciate Boba Tea, we also took a deep dive into its rich history. Originating from Taiwan in the 1980s, this refreshing beverage has gained immense popularity worldwide. We learned about the pioneering tea shops and the innovative minds that introduced the concept of adding tapioca pearls to tea, giving birth to the iconic Boba Tea.

The presentation included fascinating anecdotes and historical tidbits about the evolution of Boba Tea, its various iterations, and the cultural significance it holds within the AAPI community. We also discovered how this humble beverage has become a symbol of diversity, creativity, and cultural fusion.
